Marianowo ((ドイツ語:Marienfließ in Pommern)) is a village in Stargard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Marianowo.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Central Statistical Office (GUS) - TERYT (National Register of Territorial Land Apportionment Journal) )〕 It lies approximately east of Stargard Szczeciński and east of the regional capital Szczecin. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania. The village has a population of 910. ==Marienfließ Abbey== In 1248, Cistercian nuns founded an abbey in Marienfließ (also Marienfliess, Marienflies).〔Werner Buchholz, ''Pommern'', Berlin: Siedler, 1999, pp.98-100, ISBN 3-88680-272-8〕 After the Protestant Reformation, the nunnery was secularized in 1569, but its purpose, to harbour unmarried or widowed noble women from the Duchy of Pomerania, continued as a Lutheran convent (damsels' foundation) for noble women.
